Linocut Reduction- Ink on Paper | 18th December 2020 | 12 x 9 inches | Edition of 4
This print was designed during the Covid-19 lockdown in Trinidad and Tobago and was part of a series of three designs which strove to represent the reality of the art student working at their practice in isolation from the world. Whilst this in many ways does represent the solitude necessary for the artistic process generally, the concern at the time of making was how the mental state of the artist could be affected by such isolation. It is funny now in retrospect to consider that the work, whilst being a snapshot of the time period, can be viewed as a basic representation of the artistic process without the context of the outside pressures of a global pandemic.
This work was assisted in its conceptualisation by Tyra Martin.
