Linocut- Ink on Paper | 10th November 2022 | 5.75 x 25.5 inches | Edition of 15
This series of prints explores my first perceptions of Calgary, as viewed from my window during the first two weeks of my coming to the city when I was under mandatory quarantine due to Covid-19 travel regulations. These two weeks of solitude allowed me to reflect on the phenomena visible through the window, which in turn caused me to marvel at the observed differences between the my homeland and this new space. In observing the sky particularly, the nuances of the interactions of light and shadow and how with clouds as well as the open prairie stretching to the East was the main source of inspiration. This led to the creation of the five print designs which make up this series.
